How do I get permission for my student to ride the bus home with another student?
Both parents/guardians needs to email the main office (ymsattendance@ycsd.york.va.us) to give permission for their students to ride home together. We can not accept verbal confirmation and the deadline to submit this request is 2:00pm.
How do I get permission for my student to ride the bus to YHS for band or sports?
The parent/guardian needs to email the main office (ymsattendance@ycsd.york.va.us) to give permission for their student to ride the bus to YHS. This bus pass can be written for multiple days so be sure to include all the days your student will participate in the band/sports activities.
Do I need to let anyone know when my student is changing from their normal afternoon routine (staying after for a club, switch from bus rider to car rider, etc.)?
If the student is aware of this change then the main office does not need to be notified. If there is a last minute change that you aren’t able to convey to your student before leaving for school you may call the main office and the message will be relayed to your student.
What is the latest time I can pick up my student for dismissal from the main office?
On a full school day the latest early dismissal from the main office is 2:25pm. On an early release day the time changes to 11:35am. Any parents arriving after this time will be asked to use the car rider pick up line and the main office can notify your student of the change should that happen.
How do I get make up work for my student when they are absent?
Your student should first check Canvas for any posted work to complete and the student can follow up with an email/message through Canvas to their teacher to ask if there is anything else that needs to be done.
Do I need a car rider number for the pick up line?
Car rider numbers are only issued upon request for daily users. If you use the line infrequently no number is necessary.
